Half Service Conferences

Following a proposal by the Conference Strategy Committee, and the agreement of the Group and Division Officers Forum in May 2006, the conferences department is pleased to offer a new service, organising Half Service Conferences. This new service level will occupy the middle ground between Full Service and Self Service Conferences, and we hope that it will be a help to conference organisers.

Until now some groups have organised self-service events, as this has enabled them to access reduced rates for room hire and catering within their own institutions, even though this means not taking advantage of the free professional services of the conferences department. With the new Half Service Conferences individuals from groups will be able to continue making their own room bookings at discounted rates within their own institutions, but Institute staff will provide administrative support through the conferences department; a detailed service level agreement for Half Service Conferences is included in the Notification of Events form.
