Venue: Institute of Physics, London
Organised by: The Printing and Graphic Science Group of the Institute of Physics
Sponsored by:CoPADD

Introduction

When observing everyday settings it is amazing how the use of the paper persists even when technologies are introduced to replace it. Paper seems to support people in ways that sophisticated technologies cannot, being extremely mobile, flexible and robust. Recently a number of technologies have sought to replicate or exploit these 'affordances of paper'.

At this second international COPADD workshop, we wish to bring together researchers, academics and developers interested in new technologies that exploit the advantages of paper. This includes: those developing new technologies, like digital pens and paper, paper (-like) displays and other ways of augmenting paper; those who have developed applications based on technologies that are currently commercially available and those researching into the ways paper is currently used in different environments and that could inform these new developments.
